Temporary housing for Women and children

We provide affordable housing to newcomer women and their children, with approximately 50 people living in the Centre’s five houses each year. Most people stay for about 8 – 10 months, moving on after their status is determined at their hearing.

Initial settlement services:
•temporary housing
•orientation (familiarity with a new culture and a new neighbourhood)
•welfare appointments
•help/referral for housing
•legal assistance: appointment with legal aid and referrals for legal representation
•medicals
•Enrollment in English as a Second Language classes for adults
•Enrollment in school for the children
We accompany the refugee claimants staying with us through every step in the refugee determination process.
