A New Housing Program for Newcomers

In partnership, Fred Victor and the Learning Enrichment Foundation (LEF) have created and are excited to launch our 'Housing Access and Support Services for Newcomer’ (HASS-N) program funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

This unique service will assist newcomers, who are in difficult housing situations, to find safer and more affordable housing.   The two components of our program are individual case management services and the Housing Information Line.

Individual Case Management Services

Our Housing and Settlement Workers will help newcomers every step of the way in finding a home from: setting up landlord appointments, completing housing applications, coordinating income supports, accessing the furniture bank, accompanying clients to appointments, and more.

Also, we will provide short-term case management support for newcomers who are housed so they can adjust and thrive in their community.  In this role, we will support our clients through informal home visits, assist with tenant issues, neighborhood tours, and connecting them to services they require.

This service is available at LEF and will be also provided at various community outreach locations in the near future.

Housing Information Line

Our Housing Information Line will provide telephone support to newcomers and settlement workers 5 days a week.  Settlement workers and newcomers will be able to access housing and community information. Settlement workers are encouraged to contact us for support and/or to make client referrals to our programs.

We look forward to working with you to improve the lives and success of newcomers.

Please stay tuned for our future outreach locations.

Housing and Settlement Workers are available at LEF or you can call the Housing Information Line at 416-760-2569.
